Day 267 | After All

Back when I was in Europe I seem to have lost a day with the time zone changes, so today is both 266 and 267 of this tribute. “After All” adds to the potential supernatural uneasiness of The Man Who Sold the World. I think of the album as coming from the same place as early heavy metal, but this song is quiet. Nonetheless it hints at occultism, inspirations from space and scary clowns (driven home by circus-like music plopped in the middle). Bowie is quiet because he’s basically given up, even becoming self critical about the song he’s performing at the moment. He’s too harsh on himself- it is a pretty good, if somewhat confusing piece of music. Album: The Man Who Sold The World
