The impression I had about this song was that Bowie forgot about it by the 1980s. I don’t recall him singing it when I saw him in concert in 1987 or 1990, and I don’t recall it being on either compilation or live albums. Then, in 1993 Nirvana resurrected the song, made it a hit, and Bowie started performing it again. Years before Nirvana, Lulu also released a version (produced by Bowie). It was a minor hit for her and the song became part of her live repertoire.
