Day 149 | Janine

This is an early, transitional song for Bowie. It is much prettier and more mellifluous than some of his very earliest songs. It also has weird lyrics that are somewhat characteristic of later songs. The full weirdness of the lyrics are hidden by the melody-not unlike “Let’s Dance.” But it still doesn’t really sound like a David Bowie song. Perhaps that’s why I can’t find footage of him actually singing it. Instead, I’m including a clip of someone else singing it (no, I don’t know who this is, but he does a pretty faithful interpretation), followed by a link to the audio only of Bowie (see the first comment).
