Phish performs “David Bowie” (1989)

It was inevitable that I post this song at some point. Years ago a friend of mine who was a big Phish fan told me about, “David Bowie,” which I listened to at the time, liked it well enough but concluded that it has little to do with David Bowie. “David Bowie” and “UB40” are the only lyrics to what is otherwise an instrumental. My understanding that Phish’s live performances of the song vary dramatically, which is characteristic of what jam bands do. This particular performance has faint, faint echos of “Aladdin Sane,” but that’s probably coincidental.
