My YouTube Year in Review

I thought this was somewhat funny and revenant to a Bowie blog— YouTube decided to send me the attached three graphics highlighting what music I was listening to (on YouTube) during 2022. Not surprisingly, Bowie came in first, a Bowie album came in first and a Bowie song came in first. In terms of artists, Bowie was followed by the Beatles and Aimee Mann, which is pretty much in line with what I would have guessed my preferences would have been (I would have guessed Aimee Mann ahead of the Beatles, and based on YouTube usage, if I were to guess a #4, it would be Frank Sinatra).

Slightly surprising was the album I listened to most— Lodger, followed by Let It Be and then Ziggy. I would have guessed Station to Station would have made the top 3, and I actually don’t remember listening to the Ziggy alum all the way through too often on YouTube, but there it is.

In terms of individual songs, “Ashes to Ashes” and “D.J.” took the top two spots, which isn’t surprising because they are two great songs, both of which also have great videos. The Beatles’ “Happiness if a Warm Gun” came in at #3, which is a bit of a surprise, but I do recall a span when I was listening to that particular song quite a bit for whatever reason (hey, it is a good song!)

So, I thought all of this would be interesting. Tomorrow… the #1 Bowie song of the year!
