My YouTube Musical Year in Review

I have found YouTube to be the most useful of my streaming services. I subscribe to several original channels but also use it to pull up just about any piece of music, or type of music I want. This blog would be very different without YouTube.

So, as a subscriber (I guess), I get this year in review. I have to think this is wrong. It seems like I’ve listened to certain songs or albums far more than these stats suggest. Also, the YouTube algorithm will often feed me songs over and over again after I’ve shown some propensity for them at one point or another. I like “Woodstock,” “Southern Cross” and “Someone Saved My Life Tonight,” but they made it to my top five songs because YouTube kept feeding them to me.

Meanwhile, it identifies the Casablanca soundtrack, which I played one night on an endless loop during a Moroccan-themed dinner, as a single album, but Scary Monsters, which I listen to all the time, as a playlist.

Nonetheless, it figured out that David Bowie was, in fact, my top artist, and his music appears on all of these lists.
