Adam Steiner interviews David Mallet about Working with David Bowie

Friend of the blog and author of the great book, Silhouettes and Shadows: The Secret History of David Bowie’s Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps), Adam Steiner recently (like, today), posted an interview he conducted for the book with David Mallet, director of some of Bowie’s most iconic videos. I don’t normally post links to other peoples’ interviews on this blog, but I’m making an exception for this one, which you can link to HERE, and I’ll explain why…

First off, I conducted my own interview of Adam Steiner, which you can link to HERE. The interview focused on his book, which is about my favorite album. His newly posted interview with Mallet was conducted for the book, so there’s a nexus. I felt like his feedback in my interview was like a private addendum to the book, and all three seem to be of a piece.

Second, by sheer coincidence, I recorded an interview last night with Lisa Perrott, who wrote another excellent book about Bowie, David Bowie and the Art of Music Video, which, as you can imagine, looks at Bowie’s work with Mallet (among other topics). I’m not going to post that video interview for a few weeks, but after reading Adam’s interview with Mallet, you’re going to want more on the topic!

Third, and most importantly, it’s just a good interview, so read it!
