Which will be the 100th album?

You might have noticed that, “The Best of Bowie” was the 98th Bowie related album to appear in this blog. Included in the 98 are studio albums, live albums, soundtracks and compilations by Bowie, as well as albums on which he contributed at least two songs, albums he produced and I think some cover albums as well. There might be a few other random albums that I’m not thinking of that have some other kind of Bowie connection. For fun, when I reach 100, I will see how I rank them at that moment in time.

What will be the 100th? Well, there’s a good chance it will be either the “Moonage Daydream” soundtrack or, the “Look At The Moon” live album, both of which I have ordered but not yet received. The DavidBowie.com web site offers two albums I donb’t have but am not likely to order, “Beside Bowie: The Mick Robson Story Soundtrack” (I think I have all the songs on this album elsewhere), “David Bowie 1966” (same); “Bowie Legacy” (a compilation, seemingly an update to the “Best of Bowie”); and “Conversation Piece” (a collection of Bowie’s songs from 1968-1969, which does include twelve previously unreleased tracks…but I don’t really like most of his music from this period). The site until recently sold another collection of his very early work called, “Spying Through a Keyhole.” Amazon has a few live albums that I don’t have and have not heard— “Montreux Jazz Festival;” “At the National Bowl;” “Live in Rio 1990;” “Live;” “Live Vol. 2;” “Live in Chili…”. Actually, I could go on— you get the idea. There are a lot of live albums out there. I also saw on Amazon an album version of, “!Select,” which I thought I actually covered but apparently did not.

I’m pretty sure there are more soundtracks, albums on which Bowie appeared as a guest and other compilation albums that exist but have not yet appeared on this site. And then of course there’s whatever the estate released next…

So, we’ll see. But its safe to say that the 100th album will not be the last!
