“I’m Afraid of Americans” live for the 4th of July

I recently went through a mental exercise of trying to come up with a coherent defense of Trumpism. Keep in mind I couldn’t be more in disagreement with Trumpism and don’t think that political orientation is genuinely justifiable. Nonetheless, as a mental exercise I think I came up with a plausibly coherent set of arguments. Without getting into it, the arguments revolve around the idea that our entire system of politics and government is so damaged that it needs to be blown up. But I don’t want to get into it. I don’t want to put anything on line that might be mistaken as an actual defense of Trumpism, or that might be misconstrued as my beliefs, or even to give anyone who is already so inclined )but unable to articulate why) a set of talking points. So let’s leave it at, trust me. Or, if you know me, call me.

In the meantime, to celebrate Independence Day, here is Bowie singing a version of “I’m Afraid of Americans” that I haven’t previously posted. I think this is more an “I’m Afraid of Americans” year rather than a “This is Not America Year” or a “Young Americans Year.” It certainly isn’t a Bowie’s Cover of “America” year.
