I Never Dreamed (1963)

I came across an article that had a link to this very short clip of what is apparently the first recording of David Bowie, then known as David Jones, singing with his band, the Konrads. Bowie was 16 at the time, and this is a demo (it sounds like part of a demo) that was rejected by the record label, Decca. The sound quality is terrible and I wouldn’t have known this was Bowie if I heard it with no explanation.

According to the article, bandmate David Hadfield discovered the recording in a bread basket while moving years later. No other copy was known to have existed. It sold at auction for nearly 40,000 pounds.
