Day 99 | Hurt

In 1995 Nine Inch Nails toured with Bowie who was promoting the album, Outside. I’m not a big NIN fan, but I saw them in Pittsburgh as part of this tour. The thrilling part of the collaboration was rather than the one band finish its set, take a break and then Bowie come out and do his part, Bowie came out while NIN was still on stage. At first he sang with them, as in this video. Hurt is a NIN song, not a Bowie song. Gradually, the band became Bowie’s backup, and were then replaced by his own band. At least that’s how I remember it…Album: The NIN version of the song appears on their album, The Downward Spiral.
