Day 93 | Dirty Boulevard

Note from 2018: I originally logged this as “David Bowie and Lou Reed,” and included links to several videos of the two singing together at Bowie’s 50th birthday concert in New York. This was a mistake as each of the selections deserved their own place among my daily tribute. Later, I’ll post the other songs and comment on them individually. Below is what I originally wrote in 2016:

David Bowie and Lou Reed. I came across this footage of Bowie and Lou Reed singing Dirty Boulevard while looking for another song. It is really a Lou Reed song—to my knowledge Bowie never recorded it himself. Bowie produced Reed’s album, Transformer (you can hear him singing backup on “Satellite of Love”). In concert he would often sing various Reed or Velvet Underground songs, especially “White Light/White Heat.” I’ll include links to a few other Bowie/Reed collaborations below…
