Day 346 | Bring Me The Disco King

Bowie supposedly kicked this song around for many years before finally recording it. That notion came from Bowie himself, which suggests he cared more about this song than most. For me, it seems like a lament about the past. I get that from the title, which is also the refrain, the line, “killing time in the 70s,” and the general, maudlin tenor of the song. The rest of the lyrics? I haven’t really spent a lot of time contemplating them, and I’m not so sure Bowie would have cared too much. In that respect this is a classic example of Bowie’s Impressionism. Album: Reality
