Day 325 | We Prick You
Update 11/13/23:
I recently updated the video link to this song because the original link broke. I’d say that it is still weirdly relevant to national politics today, which is sad. Also, I’m reminded how little I wrote during my song-a-day tribute in 2016 compared to the long, sometimes meandering posts I often compose these days. I’m not sure which is the better approach, but for that reason alone I might revisit this song (there’s so much more to say).
Here’s what I originally posted on 12/6/16:
This is a brutal song. The refrain is brutal, so is the “drum and bass” hammering. The one hopeful reprieve is the repeated line, “you show respect, even if you disagree.” But that line is mechanical and might be more of an intimidating command than a hopeful observation. So what we have is yet another song from this album that seems weirdly relevant to this year in national politics. Album: 1. Outside
