Bowie produced Lou Reed’s best known solo album and therefore had something to do with “Walk on the Wild Side.” He went a step further on this one and very distinctly howls backing vocals. This is the only song on which Bowie actually sings that appears in the movie, Velvet Goldmine, though it cuts off before Bowie’s part. Lyrically, this song could easily have been an outtake from Ziggy Stardust, but there’s an earlier, lesser known Velvet Underground version, so I believe it predates Ziggy. Album: Transformer
