Day 274 | American Dream

I had been saving this one for the off, off chance that Trump wins the election.  I am pretty sure that isn’t going to happen, so I am positing this on the occasion of the second presidential debate.  This isn’t a song I frequently listen to. It is more a P. Diddy song; Bowie is really the secondary performer here.  The musical connection is “This is Not America,” but the conceptual link is a dystopian vision.  Although I am not familiar with P. Diddy’s music, I think that’s a clever linkage—his presumably realistic dystopia linked to Bowie’s fantastic version (although unlike something like “Diamond Dogs,” “This Is Not America” is not that kind of song).  Without really studying the lyrics, this seems to be Trump’s America—a nightmare.   But Bowie is right:  this is not America.    Album: Training Day Soundtrack
