Day 202 | A Small Plot of Land

When Blackstar was released earlier this year, I thought I heard echoes of one my favorite Bowie albums, 1. Oustide. Today I read that the band who supported Bowie for Blackstar is releasing an album inspired by and in tribute to Bowie called, Beyond Now. I don’t know if it will be a cover album, but the first single is in fact a cover of “A Small Plot of Land” from… 1. Outside. So I was right! To say the least, this song isn’t “Golden Years.” It is meant to be heard, not danced to (I hope) and is challenging rather than joyful. I almost always listen to it just in the context of the entire album, which is the most through-and-through concept album of Bowie’s catalogue. Album: Outside
