Day 17 | Sue (Or a Season of Crime)

This version of the song was released as the one new contribution to a 2014 compilation album. Since I already had all the other songs, I downloaded this one and… didn’t like it. I think I read it would appear on what would be Bowie’s next studio album, which lowered my expectations. The year before he came out with the strong comeback album, The Next Day and I was concerned his next move would be some sort of discordant abstract experiment. Well, the next album would be Blackstar, which includes a different and far superior version of this song. Still not the strongest song on the album, but it’s interesting how little changes and a different context make for a big improvement. Album: Nothing Has Changed
