Day 166 | Beat of Your Drum

This clip from a Glass Spider Tour concert includes “Sons of the Silent Age” (featuring Peter Frampton, who was also playing guitar for Bowie on the tour) and “New York’s in Love” (remember when I was trying to find a clip of Bowie singing it?), but starts with “Beat of Your Drum.” This song sounds better to me out of the context of the album. I don’t think there’s anything especially complex about this song, however I’m a little unclear whether he’s singing, “I like the beat of your drum,” or “I like to beat on your drum.” I actually think, despite the title, it’s the latter, however the meaning of the two metaphors is pretty different. Album: Never Let me Down.
