Day 152 | Madonna’s Bowie Tribute

Madonna sings a faithful rendition of Rebel Rebel. This is, in a sense, what I would have liked to have seen from Lady Gaga when she did the tribute at the Grammys (perhaps minus the excessive swearing…not sure that that’s about). Over the past few months I have seen several such tributes and am struck in part that many artists both credit Bowie with influencing their careers, and for “making it OK to be different.”‘ Side note: if you look carefully at the images of Bowie that play in the background, you’ll notice his Rochester police department mug shot from when he was arrested for pot possession in the 1970s (never to return to Rochester!)
