Coming Saturday: Exclusive Interview with Bowie guitarist Kevin Armstrong!

What was it like to play guitar for David Bowie in front of an audience of more than one billion viewers? What do you do when you show up to play a session with a mystery musician and it turns out to be Bowie? Is Iggy Pop actually a nice guy?

Bowie and Kevin Armstrong

Kevin Armstrong can answer all these questions and more. The title of Armstrong’s often hilarious autobiography, Absolute Beginner: Memoirs of the World’s Best Least-Known Guitarist, reflects both his role in shaping David Bowie’s song of the same name—during his very first surprise session with Bowie—and his status as a remarkably accomplished musician who has played with Bowie, Iggy Pop, and countless others over a 50+ year career yet is not a household name. It probably should be— Kevin’s been involved with music that you almost certainly own in one format or another and definitely know. Plus he gives a great interview. I’m very excited to be able to post this interview on Saturday. And for the rest of the week I’ll be posting material on which you can hear Kevin play, like this one, “Absolute Beginners.”
