Bowie performs “Space Oddity” on Midnight Special

The Midnight Special was, as the name implies, a late-night music show featuring stars from the 70s through early 80s. I think— I think— I remember Wolfman Jack hosting the show (maybe it ran in syndication at an earlier point in the day?). Anyway, old performances are going to be used on a new YouTube channel and Bowie is one of the featured artists. The upcoming channel released this clip of “Space Oddity” as part of its promotion.

The performance is live, but there is footage of rockets and a space station woven in, so the whole thing has the feel of a video. The audio and visual are high quality. Bowie is in full Ziggy regalia — there’s a fair chance that when you think of David Bowie, this is what you think of— him looking like Ziggy, dressed as he’s dressed, probably singing “Space Oddity.”

I’m pretty sure there will be more clips of Bowie performing on the show, and if so, I will doubtlessly post them here.
