Public art, Albany, NY

As long as I’m posting pictures…

This one is a few years old but was Albany’s tribute to Bowie.  It’s a Nipper dog with the Aladdin Sane lighting bolt.  This was part of a series of decorated plexiglas Nipper Dogs around town. The Nipper Dog is kind of an unofficial symbol for Albany because a large statue of the dog had sat atop a building, looking over the city for many decades.  I’ve seen several other cities do something similar— for instance, Buffalo had decorated bisons and Binghamton had carousel horses (Binghamton is the Carousel City).
